The Sailboats are Sailing Away

I began making the Sailboat mobiles for all of you that have boy babes and didn't think a bird mobile would work for your little dude's room. {Birds work for everyone, you just gotta pick the right fabric... in my humble opinion.}

They've been so fun to make for you, especially the custom ones.

But alas, my time is hardly my own anymore {I'm hoping little Bridget will soon start sleeping more hours in a row!} and these sweet mobiles take a LOT of time to make. Since no one would buy them if I priced them to cover my time, I'm sadly having to pull them from my offerings.

The Sea Life mobiles are still up for grabs though, and talk about fun with the custom orders!

Mommy & Baby Birds in a Nest

I love getting requests from people - Thank you! Recently, I've had many requests from people for more birds in nests.

For the most recent addition to Cookie+Curly's website, I got a little carried away when making the nest {yes, they're all handmade} and I made a big one, suitable for a mommy and baby, not just one bird. So...

I hope you like it! I just love how it came together. So sweet.

The only other available mobile with a nest at this time is this one in yellow, grey and white:

I hope to get more out to you soon, but I have a few great new fabrics that I already have in the making for you so hold tight for those first. In the meantime, if you'd like to order a custom mobile in your favorite style, please email me and we'll get something going for you.

Please note: My custom order capabilities will slow down in about 4-6 weeks when our Baby#3 comes so get your orders in now!

Mommy & Baby Bird Mobiles - Here They Come!

I've been getting requests for Mommy/Baby or Daddy/Baby bird mobiles lately so I just added this one today:

I'll have more in the makes but I need to fulfill some orders first. Any fabric requests?

Thanks for the feedback and requests. I love to hear from you!

Oh, and tomorrow I'll tell you all about the world's best cookies and a new blog I discovered last week, thanks to my mom. THE best.

For Mrs. Peas

A customer of mine is related to an apparently delightful woman named Mrs. Peas. Mrs. Peas has embraced her last name of "Peas" and likes all things having to do with peas. Yes, green peas.

Christmas-time rolled around and my customer was happy to discover some fabric resembling peas in my stash of diverse fabric choices for custom orders. Soon, her birds were made...

Mrs. Peas' friend was so excited about the gift idea that she ordered another single-bird mobile for the daughter of Mrs. Peas.

The post-Christmas report I received shares that all were very pleased with their unique and personal gift. I love custom orders!

Speaking of which, I just did a really fun, custom Sea Life mobile. I'll have to share that next...

Treat to Minneapolis

I just shipped out this sweet mobile to a lovely woman in Minneapolis. She is 34, pregnant with her first - a boy! - and has found so much excitement in decorating his room. It was a pleasure to work with her! I'm hoping this mobile is all that she desired.

She wanted a mobile this same style and branch:

but with these colors:

So... her mobile:

I just love doing custom mobiles! I'm working on a custom mobile now for a woman wanting purple seahorses. So fun!

Happy day to you all.

They Can Walk!

Since we all love to get out and stretch our "wings" by going on great runs, rides, walks, hikes, etc. every day, I figured my birdies might enjoy the opportunity to walk about as well. Thus, my legged birdies!

Available in this ever-popular retro pattern:

You can also select the custom order in the drop-down box and pick whatever colors you'd like!

Fun as bookends, centerpieces, playmates {not recommended for under 3 years old}, or any other creative way you'd like to display them, they're now available as a new way of enjoying Cookie+Curly birds.

What do you think? Feedback always appreciated.

The Power of Wonder-Under

I've become somewhat obsessed with this fabric.

After using it to make some sweet birds {available on my website}:

I also patched up one of my daughter's hand-me-down sweatshirts with this fabric using Wonder-Under:

Holes, holes, and more holes. But super cute & fits perfectly so patches are a must.
Following the directions of Wonder-Under {THE best patching material}...

1) Cut out a general size of Wonder-Under you will need.
2) Iron it, using the recommended settings, onto your fabric.
3) Cut out your fabric in the size you want - in my case, a flower
4) Follow ironing directions again and iron onto fabric.

I like to do a zig-zag stitch {or hand-stitch for the hard-to-reach spots} around the patch too, just to secure it down.

I couldn't stop there as I just love the fabric, so I patched my "mountain jeans" too.

Big holes were too big to patch. New patches keep them from ripping more.
Now, you have no excuse to not patch that darn item you love so much but haven't worn in forever. It's simple!
