Darn...

In my last post I blogged how I had stayed up burning the midnight oil so that I could work on my birds during my time away over Thanksgiving so I wouldn't come home and have a trillion things to do in preparation for The Stitch Market. Well, so much for that effort.

The second I started stuffing my first bird I realized that I had goofed. Big time. At the last minute, while cutting out all of the birds, I changed my pattern just a bit (I seem to always be tweaking it to make the birds just right). Well, I made a mistake and didn't check one bird before cutting ALL the other birds... and sewing them together.

So, long story short, I burned the midnight oil again Sunday night, cutting and sewing. (I'm kind of happy I started over again as I found some fabrics that really zing when they're together!) Last night I stuffed all of them (while enjoying a lighthearted movie with my hubby) and today I embroider and hopefully hang a few of them. And yes, there will be bedazzled birds involved, and some special Christmas birds - both mobiles, and ornaments.

Stay tuned for sneak peaks on what will be at The Stitch Market. And locals, come! It's this Thursday night from 6-9pm. You get a raffle ticket just for showing up (and an extra one if you bring a friend!) for the raffle held every 30 minutes. Email me if you need the address.

Great things there from The Pleated Poppy, decorative and custom cards by lollipops, Dondi Bags, blue corduroy, and many more.

See you Thursday!

P.S. Cookie+Curly will be providing a variety pack of gift cards for the raffle.

A Little of This, and a Little of That

Today was a good day in many senses. And then, there were a few hiccups. The day started strong with a wonderful, crisp hike to the "M" of Madonna Mountain with my little side-kick, "Curly".

She loves to walk now ("Heidi do") so the only way I can get her to stay put in the hiking backpack now is to load up her "lovey" (she never was one for a pacifier) and hit the trail. And yes, those are Kix.

During "naptime" I selected and cut a huge number of birds.

I put naptime in quotes because this is when the hiccup was...

Remember the story from a few days ago of my son and entire bottle of moisturizing cream? Well, Round 2 happen today. Yeah.

I checked in on him about 10 minutes into when he was supposed to be napping, only to find him this time behind his previously-upholstered-but-now-naked-because-it's-at-the-cleaners rocking chair. I looked closer and found a trail of lotion on the floor. I hustled to the chair, only to find that my sensory-loving boy had covered the back of the rocking chair, the carpeting, and was working now working on the curtains. What?!?!

I don't need to go into what happened next. Needless to say, as expected by a healthy 3 year old, he recovered quickly and built a "pirate ship" in the livingroom. Ahoy there!

I conclude my day having just sewn twenty nine birds for the Stitch Market boutique on December 2nd. Had to cram in a lot of work to allow for at least a little down time this week.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, if I don't blog before then.

Bedazzled Birds Debut

So here it is... My favorite mobile yet! Bedazzled Birds at their finest:

Bedazzled Birds (One-of-a-Kind 5-Bird Mobile)
I've used this print before for another favorite mobile, but there's something about the silver painted branch that hits me in a different way and makes me smile. I had a blast making this mobile. Check out the personality of each bird and the way they seem to happily perch on their silver branch:

As expected, I was really excited to post this mobile on my website and tell you all about it yesterday. Well, I posted it on the website, but then my son initiated a run-in between an entire bottle of moisturizing cream and his room (you gotta read about this) and I didn't get to blogging about it. Between then and now, this beautiful, bedazzled mobile SOLD!

I will make more for the Stitch Market on December 2nd, including some gold branches, and after that I hope to get more on my website. But again, if you want to get your custom order in the cue, there are custom orders you can purchase on my website, or just email me and we'll figure out your fabric and get one out to you shortly.

Am I nuts for loving this one so much? Let me know what you think!

Enjoy the rain, if you've been blessed like we have.

Debut Postponed

I was so excited to blog all about a new mobile I did that just knocked my socks off, but alas, life happens...

I just walked into my dear 3 year old's room to find that, instead of napping, he took an entire bottle of moisturizing cream and proceeded to cover his upholstered rocking chair, ottoman and part of his drapes. Then he took a (few?) cups of water and poured it over the ottoman, perhaps in hopes of cleaning it up. When that didn't work, he took an entire box of Kleenex and covered the ottoman in almost a paper mache-type fashion.

Welp, we'd been meaning to clean it. I suppose tomorrow is a good day to do it.

I'm having a girl's night with my mom tonight - whoo-hoo! - and sneaking off to Windows on the Water in Morro Bay so I won't be posting anything more tonight. But, stay tuned for more on the debut of the coolest mobile ever. I promise, it's worth it!

Have a fun night!

They're Going Down Under!

Two bird mobiles are making their way to Australia this week! Meet the Dolce Triplets and Cookie+Curly's Outdoor Boy mobile:

A bit of sweet for the sweetest of girls, and a touch of lively nature for an adventurous boy? Actually, I don't know where "home" is going to be for these little birds as this was an order through Cookie+Curly's website. Sarah, be sure to send us pictures once they make their way to you Down Under!

Cookie+Curly's website is looooow on mobiles as I fulfill orders and get ready for the Stitch Market on December 2nd. (I just checked out the Stitch Market's website again and there's way more than I was expecting - Check it out! Locals, are you coming?) I will get more mobiles up on the website early December. Promise.

In the meantime, if you see something on the blog or website that you want, just email me. I can't reproduce the exact branch (funny how God makes them all so different) but I can certainly find the same look.

Katie Rose

"Katie Rose". The name is sweet. So is the little girl. "Gma Mac" wanted this sweet girl (her "Katie-bug") to have birds that match her darling personality and PINK room. The pictures don't do the birds justice as I had to shoot them at night, but she'll be presently surprised when she gets this surprise package from Gma Mac.

Enjoy, Katie Rose. And have your mommy send me pictures of it up!

Getting Giddy With It

Okay, I got giddy making these blankies... Is that bad? They're just so precious!

Monday, I was fortunate enough to have two kids who patiently played in Birch Fabrics in Paso Robles, CA while I drooled over their amazing selection of fabrics and picked out the most adorable prints for blankies, birds, and butterflies. Here are a few - some oldies but goodies, some newly printed fabrics, and some new organic fabrics.

I wish the blankies were going up on my website but they're actually heading out to Silver Seahorse in Morro Bay, CA. [Revision... I take that back: I couldn't help it so I made some more and they're on the website. Order up!] If you like what you see though, shoot me a line and let me know. I'm happy to make a custom order for you (no extra charge).

Some day, hopefully soon, I'll have time to catch up on orders and get more inventory up on my website. That might not be until after the next Stitch Market on December 2nd though. Oh yeah, there's another one coming up! (Yes, the website says Dec 1st but it's been moved to the 2nd.)

Happy Hump Day,

Give me an O-R-G-A-N-I-C!

First, many, many thanks to all who came out and enjoyed the Holiday Hoopla. A fantastic number of people came out - We were blown away.

Thursday night was full of tasty appetizers, sips of vino, shopping, laughing, and relaxing. Friday morning brought on some serious shoppers and inventory disappeared right before our eyes. We ate, laughed, shopped, chatted, sipped, browsed, and met new friends. You've just got to come next time.

I was incredibly flattered by all of the support and interest in Cookie+Curly products - Thank you! The birds were a hit and many additional orders were placed, the butterflies sold out, and the blanket/blankie sets found loving arms in which to go home.

That brings me to what debuted at the Holiday Hoopla...

Cookie+Curly's ORGANIC blankets and blankies! Yes, they're here! 100% certified organic cotton printed with AZO free dyes, organic cotton sherpa (the luxuriously soft, cuddly fabric on the back), AND organic cotton ribbon on the blankies.

Organic Circa 50 Rockets Blanket/Blankie Set
Organic Monaco Birds Blanket/Blankie Set
I snuck them onto the website on Friday and have already heard back from a few of you. I'm so glad you like them! I started with two prints to feel everyone out and there's definitely an interest so more prints are on their way.

Please drop me a line with thoughts, suggestions, feedback, etc. I love hearing from you.

Many well wishes to all. I've got to get back to work!

Rather Flutter Than Tweet?

Remember when I mentioned that my creativity got the best of me and I came up with a new product? Well, here it is! Introducing, Butterflies by Cookie+Curly:

Each butterfly on these mobiles are handcrafted and hand-strung from real wood with clear string so that they appear to be floating. The unique design of the butterflies and their positioning captivate a child's imagination as they dance with the slightest breeze making them a great choice for near a window or right above a crib. One can't help but be drawn in and mesmerized by their subtle movements. Just imagine...

Butterflies are made of insulated wire and cotton fabric. Wood rods are held together by satin ribbon. Each mobile comes with a hook for hanging.

Mobile measurements: 20" x 20". Butterflies: approximately 3.5"x3.5".

Custom orders welcome. More Butterfly (and Bird) Mobiles to be posted on Cookie+Curly's website next week. They will be sold at the Holiday Hoopla as well.

What do you think? Do you like to Flutter with C+C Butterflies or Tweet with C+C Birds?
